Trecastle Community

Llywel Community Council

The Community Council meets once a month on a Thursday at the Trecastle Community Centre and consists of eight local committed residents who serve the village and surrounding parish, and are very connected and passionate about improving amenities and listening to the local community with community issues. The meetings are designed to discuss any concerns or ideas that the residents may have and to resolve any outstanding issues that need addressing. These range from planning applications to the children's playground and everything in between. Our role is to listen to local people, including the children and try to resolve any issues large or small that are detrimental or are negative to our community. We will try our best to solve all issues that are realistically manageable and within our powers. We are passionate and committed councillors wh are keen to retain the character of the Village and surrounding areas, but at the same time conscious of the need to harness the benefits of the new technological innovations. We have a direct responsibiliy for the reporting of unsatisfactory road/roadside standards in our locality. The area of the park at the rear of Trecastle Community Hall is our responsibility, and while every effort is made to improve and maintain standards within the park, new legislation creates more restrictions on the use of the park generally. We are presently in the process of pricing new swings with wooden supports to replace those that are old. The grass is cut regularly, so that our children and children passing through Trecastle can enjoy the benefits. It is in our and your interest to maintain standards in the park playing areas, and would hope you can contribute by picking litter up when you see it, and refaining from allowing dogs to mess in the area. If you see anybody allowing their dogs to foul our park ..Please photograph the event or report it to a councillor. Thankyou.

Obviously, we all know that our bus service between Sennybridge and Llandovery has been axed, due to poor use of it by locals. Powys C.C. decided to stop the service back in November 2015 ! Every since , local people have been using the main road as a method to walk to Sennybridge for the connecting bus which travels up the Swansea Valley through Sennybridge and onto Brecon.  People without their own transport have walked the highway between Trecastle and Sennybridge during an extended period since the bus service ceased on that stretch of road, which has seen several fatalities in the last few years. It is a particularly fast piece of road with log wagons, army transport mixed with normal traffic and the speeding motorcyclists. There is no pavement/walkway, and we have insisted that Powys make cutting the grass here a priority  because it`s impossible to walk in long grass all the way to Sennybridge and back. Meanwhile councillors in Trecastle have sought to arrange for a free taxi on Tuesdays and Fridays, when Brecon Market is open to take passengers andreturn them betweeen Trecastle and Sennybridge. This happens three times on each day. Please use the taxi . It is for everybody to use, children also. If we don`t use it ...we are likely to lose it. Our local council have agreed to part subsidising this service.
